cups – can not connect to paralel port, permission denied

Something quite suprising happened this morning. The Canon ip 1880 that we usually use to print can not print. I open cups and it said can not open paralel port – permission denied. I tried to reinstall cups but nothing change. I left this server printer for 2 days and this is the result. Everything is down. Including the other cpu in the other office.

After reading in some forum, they only suggest for change the mode of writing the /dev/usb/lp0 and /dev/lp0 which is the dev of the printer. So I did that and it worked. But the share from window is not work.

here is the command

#chmod 777 /dev/usb/lp0
#chmod 777 /dev/lp0

restart the cups or just close the cups manager/ print manager. Then you will have your printer back.
