Ubuntu Studio 9.04 / or just Ubuntu using Mobi

After successful with slackware, now I m curious to use mobi in Ubuntu. See the previous here about mobi in slackware.

I used Ubuntu Studio 9.04 in my Ion notebook with Dual Core E3200 processor.
Since I did’nt find some software in the application panel, I tried to look for wvdial. But we have to run it in terminal. In Ubuntu Karmic, this setting will be more easier. I’ll write about it later.

So I opened the terminal and tried to find out is there any wvdial installed.

#sudo wvdial

My screen showed that wvdial need some setting. Here was the output

–> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.60
–> Cannot open /dev/ttyACM0: No such file or directory
–> Cannot open /dev/ttyACM0: No such file or directory
–> Cannot open /dev/ttyACM0: No such file or directory

Ok let’s edit the wvdial.conf in /etc/wvdial.conf to edit login and everything. This is the original wvdial.conf:

[Dialer Defaults]
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Modem Type = USB Modem
Baud = 460800
New PPPD = yes
Modem = /dev/ttyACM0
ISDN = 0
; Phone = phone number
; Password = password
; Username = your username

Edit it using nano

#sudo nano /etc/wvdial.conf

Remember just edit the line phone, password and username only. And don’t forget to remove or semicolon in front of it.
Now after plug in my mobi modem, and run sudo wvdial in the terminal, I have internet connection.
